The next Club Meeting is Tuesday August 3rd, 2010. Please mark your calendar! Feeding Frenzy/Social Hour starts at 6:00 pm with the meeting starting at 7:00 pm at Fuddruckers @ Ontario Mills on the South Side of Fourth Street. The address for Fuddruckers is: 4423 Mills Circle See you there! Hello All, Happy July 4th to you, please be safe as
America celebrates the 234th year of Independence.
Summer is here and a lot of people are planning their
vacations as their children get out of school. Yes, I am planning my
vacation to the Big Island, Kona, Hawaii. SCUBA diving is on the top
of my list. Most divers have heard of the night manta ray dive with
the twenty foot mantas swimming overhead filtering in plankton
attracted by the lights. I do hope to have some great pictures to
share when I get back. I hear there is an active volcano that can be
a source of great pictures as well. This meeting we have a handicapped diver coming to
the meeting to share his adventures and opportunities for the
handicapped to enjoy SCUBA diving. Also, be sure to mark your calendars, August, 7th
for the annual club picnic at La Jolla shores. There will be good
food and fun for all. The club will supply the burgers and hot dogs
and rely on the members to bring yummy side dishes. Chips, salads,
and fruit are always great choices. Oh yes, there is SCUBA diving
there also. La Jolla is known to have lots of sand dollars in the
sand but please do not collect them. La Jolla is a preserve and the
local stores do not accept them as tender for merchandise. There
always seems to be something different there to see every time I dive
there. The best diving seems to be along the edge of the submarine
canyon where you see clam snorkels, tube anemones, blacked eyed
gobies, and octopus. Look out to the deep water for the large fish
that sometimes swim by. Hope to see you at the meeting.
